Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-05-24
By installing or using SweChat, you agree to the following terms. The service is provided by Nordchat from Sweden under EU/Swedish law.
1. Your account
You sign in with a phone number and a one-time passcode delivered by SMS. You are responsible for keeping access to the phone number associated with your account. If you lose access to the phone number you may also lose access to the account.
2. Acceptable use
- No illegal content, harassment, threats, or doxxing.
- No spam, mass-messaging, or automated outreach without consent.
- No attempts to break, probe, or circumvent the encryption or rate limits.
- No use of the service to facilitate exploitation of minors.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules. We have no ability to read the contents of your encrypted messages, so enforcement is based on reports and signed metadata only.
3. End-to-end encryption
Messages, calls, and files are end-to-end encrypted. We cannot recover lost conversations, and we will not be able to assist a third party (including law enforcement) in reading their plaintext content. We may, when legally compelled, share the limited metadata we hold (see Privacy Policy).
4. BankID verification
BankID verification is optional. It adds a verified badge to your profile but is never required to use the service. SweChat does not store your legal name or full personal number — only a one-way hash for de-duplication.
5. Availability
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Scheduled maintenance and emergency updates may occasionally cause brief downtime.
6. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from inside the app (Settings → Account → Delete account). On deletion we wipe your account data and any plaintext metadata associated with it. Encrypted messages on other users’ devices are not under our control.
7. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Nordchat is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory consumer rights under Swedish or EU law.
8. Changes
We may update these terms. We will update the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, notify you in-app before the change takes effect.
9. Contact
